About Me
Hello and welcome. I am Robert K. Sifford, and I work as a marine engineer. I have more than two decades of hands-on experience in offshore and subsea engineering. That includes vessel systems design and maritime consulting too. Back in 1999, I started delivering engineering solutions in some tough maritime spots around the world. Places like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, parts of Africa, and Europe come to mind.
I got both my B.S. and M.S. in Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago. That is where my lifelong interest in applied science and marine mechanics really started to form. Then field work came along and built on that base. It turned all the theory into real practical strategies. Pretty much, that is what made me into the kind of problem-solver I am these days.
When it comes to my professional credentials, they include a few key ones. I am a P.E., which stands for Professional Engineer. There is also BC.OE for Board Certified in Ocean Engineering. And BC.PE means Board Certified Professional Engineer. Plus, I hold M.ASCE as a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
All these show more than just technical know-how. They point to my ongoing push for excellence, safety, and solid ethical practices in engineering.
Over the years in my career, I have pitched in on all sorts of projects. That ranges from fine-tuning propulsion and power systems on tricky vessels. It also covers handling the complete lifecycle for offshore platforms and subsea setups. My approach mixes sharp technical work with some forward-thinking strategy. The focus stays on things like environmental care, strong structures that last, and smooth operational efficiency.
I would not call myself a hobbyist in the usual way. Still, what drives me are the sorts of things that engineers get pretty well. I like taking apart complex systems just to put them back together in a smarter fashion. Problem-solving brings a kind of clear-headed focus for me. I appreciate clean data, detailed schematics, and workflows that actually make sense. And yes, I even find myself mulling over ways to tweak yesterday’s fixes when I am off the clock.
For me, engineering goes beyond just being a job. It is really a whole mindset. You tackle challenges with real curiosity. You carry them out with steady discipline. And you craft solutions that make a difference in the actual world.
If you stopped by to find out more about what I do, or if you need someone with solid experience and fresh insights in marine engineering, I would be happy to chat. We can push your ideas ahead with clear thinking, real capability, and a good dose of confidence.
